JAMB ANNOUNCES 2017 CUT OFF MARKS FOR ALL INSTITUTIONS

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has set the the minimum cut-off mark for admissions into universities at 120. This followed the conclusion of the combined policy meeting which had Vice Chancellors, Rectors and Provosts of higher institutions as well as other stake holders in attendance. The minimum cut off marks for polytechnics and colleges of education was set at 100 while that of innovative enterprising institutes was set at 110. It was also decided at the meeting that admission into first choice universities should close on October 15 while December 15, 2017 was set as the closing date for second choice admission by institutions. Also, admissions into public degree awarding institutions for the 2017 UTME examination will end on January 15, 2018 while for private institutions, it ends on January 31, 2018. JAMB INTRODUCES NEW SYSTEM FOR 2017/2018 ADMISSION

confirmed report has it that the Joint Admission and matriculation Board JAMB has introduce  a system called (CAPS) Central Admission Processing System for the 2017/2018 admission which is aimed at ensuring quality control, transparency and credibility of the admission process. According to the report, the new policy awaiting implementation is expected to make provision for a ‘market place’ in the JAMB portal where institutions can go and ‘request for students in Nigeria who score their cut off points. Institutions in Nigeria are allowed to peg their cut off point after meeting with their respective senates. These institutions will write to JAMB to request for the students and also give them (students) three days to respond. Also, only three universities can request for a candidate if the policy is adopted. BREAKING: JAMB DELISTS MANAGEMENT COURSES FROM SOME UNIVERSITIES

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has removed management courses of some universities in its current admission brochure. They are Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Modibbo Adamawa Federal University of Technology, Yola (MAUTY), Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) and University of Agriculture, Makurdi (UAW). This is sequel to an order by the federal government that the universities of Agriculture and Technology should stop running management courses and focus on their core mandates. The directive was issued by the Ministry of Education after it was approved recently by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
